Safety
device wins award
RVSS Ltd was
awarded the Lex Vehicle Leasing Vehicle safety device award for its
Bootsafe and Bootroll product at the first Fleet Safety Forum Awards
for Excellence.
Peter
Lyne, marketing director, RVSS Ltd, received the award from Peter
Knight, communications manager, Lex Vehicle Leasing, at Brake's
end of year reception in the Houses of Parliament on 19 December.
Bootsafe
is a heavy fabric holdall designed to restrain all loose items and
Bootroll is a heavy duty sheet designed to restrain awkward
shaped and bulkier items. They can contain luggage, tools or equipment
to prevent them crashing through the seats of a car or van in the
event of a crash.
Both products
have passed crash tests conducted by the Transport Research Laboratory
and Bootroll has been accredited by Motability as a wheelchair restraint.
Bootsafe and Bootroll
are used by police forces, health trusts and ministry of defence police
and more than 50 companies including RNIB. Alan Miles, administration
manager, RNIB, fits Bootsafe and Bootroll to his fleet of 230
cars and vans. He says: "Bootsafe and Bootroll provide the necessary
protection for our drivers, which is of paramount importance".
Peter Knights,
communications manager, Lex Vehicle Leasing, says: "It is amazing
that so many serious injuries are caused by loose objects in cars
and the Bootsafe and Bootroll products are an ideal way to keep these
objects secure. We hope that the Fleet Safety Forum Awards for Excellence
will raise awareness surrounding this serious issue and Lex will certainly
be incorporating this in its future material on safety."

1. Brake's
annual awards, in their first year, aim to reward well-researched
activities that effectively help extensive communities, or targeted
individuals, to stop road crashes. They aim to complement and
expand other award schemes such as the Prince Michael of Kent,
Fleet News and Motor Transport awards.
2. Brake is a national not-for-profit road safety organisation.
Brake exists to stop the 3,400 deaths and 41,000 serious injuries
that occur on Britain's roads every year and to care for people
traumatised by road crashes. Brake produces educational road safety
literature and runs events including Road Safety Week. The Fleet
Safety Forum, a division of Brake is a membership scheme for fleet
professionals. Members of the Fleet Safety Forum receive monthly
mailings to help them achieve fleet safety best practice. Mailings
include Fleet Safety Forum News, information sheets on specific
fleet safety issues, invitations to conferences at a reduced delegate
rate and fleet safety resources produced by the Government and
other organisations.
